HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Penn College dropped a non-conference baseball doubleheader to Juniata Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 11-10 following a 7-4 setback in game one, and an 8-3 loss in the second game.
In game one,
Penn College took an early 2-0 lead with a one in the second and third innings. A wild pitch in the second plated
Brittan Kittle, while
Cody Cline's single to right in the third scored
Nathaniel Lowe.
The Eagles exploded for seven runs in the third before RBIs from
Noah Esposito and
Deric Ellerman in the fourth and sixth scored the final runs of the game.
Cline finished 4 for 4 from the plate for the Wildcats, and
Colton Riley and Lowe picked up two hits each.
Cody Nelson fell to 3-2 after 2.2 innings on the mound. He allowed seven runs (six earned), on seven hits, with three walks and three strikeouts.
In game two,
After Juniata took an early 1-0 in the first inning, Penn College added three in third. Cline's two-run double to left scored
Christian Perna and Ellerman and
Ben Flicker's fielder's choice brought home Ellerman.
Juniata added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and three in the sixth.
Cline led PCT with two hits.
Trevor Dolin fell to 3-2 after four innings of work. He allowed five runs (one earned), on four hits, with one walk.
Penn College returns to action Saturday at Lancaster Bible.
