BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Penn College split a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's and women's tennis meet against Bryn Athyn Saturday. The men won 7-2, while the women dropped a 6-3 decision.
The men improved to 4-6 overall, 2-0 NEAC, while the women fell to 1-9, 1-1.
In the men's meet,
The Wildcats won 5 or 6 single matches and 2 or 3 doubles matches.
Blake Whitmire won No. 2 singles, 6-3,
Garrett Benner took No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1,
Nicholas Pascual battled in No. 4 singles, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2,
Will DeMarco took No. 5 singles 7-6 (7-3), 6-0, and
Stephen Helminiak won No. 6, 6-2, 6-1.
Joseph Morrin and Pascual teamed up to win No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and Benner and Demarco won No. 3 8-3.
In the women's meet,
Emily Bell and
Hanna Williams picked up Penn College's wins in singles. Bell won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 and Williams took No. 4, 6-4, 6-1.
Bell and Williams teamed up to win No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
