Mt. ALOYSIUS, Pa. – Penn College watched an 11-run lead slip away en route to a 16-13 setback to Mt. Alyosius in a non-conference baseball game Monday. The Wildcats fell to 15-11.
Penn College started out hot with 11 runs in the first four innings. RBIs from
Cody Cline,
Ben Flicker,
Deric Ellerman, and
Noah Esposito in the first gave Penn College a 4-0 lead. Flicker,
Alex Zelger, and an error brought in three runs in the second and third innings, and Cline,
Nathaniel Lowe, Kole Pakrivsak, and Cline brought in four runs in the fourth.
Then, the wheels fell off.
MAC tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with 11 runs and tacked on five in the sixth to take a 16-11 lead.
An error and a
Brittan Kittle single plated the final two runs for Penn College.
Zelger, Cline, and Flicker all finished with three hits for Penn College, while Kittle and Esposito ended with two hits.
Max Conrad fell to 0-1 after two-thirds of an inning. He allowed five runs on four hits. Starter
Aaron Palmer fired 4.2 innings, allowing nine runs (three earned), on nine hits.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday, 4 p.m., hosting Mansfield.
