Wildcats Sweep Wells; Stay Unbeaten in NEAC

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College swept a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader with Wells College Sunday at Logue Field. The Wildcats won the first game 8-0, before taking the nightcap 15-0. The Wildcats improved to 4-0 in the NEAC, 10-6 overall.

In game one,
Penn College jumped out to a 2-0 with a run in the first two innings. Alex Zelger scored in the first inning before Colton Riley touched home in the second on a wild pitch.

Brittan Kittle's single to right in the third made it 3-0 before Riley belted a three-run homer to left field to give the Wildcats a 6-0 lead. Richard Lennon singled to left in the fifth to make it 7-0, and Nathaniel Lowe's sacrifice grounder in the sixth scored Noah Esposito for the final run.

Ben Flicker and Kittle both finished with two hits for Penn College.

Cody Nelson tossed a gem, with five innings of no-hit baseball. He fired six innings, allowed one hit, four walks and four strikeouts.

In game two,
Esposito brought in Lennon with single to left in the second inning to give PCT a 1-0 lead.

Penn College exploded with eight runs in the fourth inning – all with two outs.

Singles by Lowe Lennon and Kittle and doubles from Alex Zelger and Cody Cline brought in four runs before Riley smacked his second three-run homer of the day to give Penn College a 9-0 lead.

Kittle belted a two-run home run in the sixth and Joe Gaumer hit a RBI single in the seventh for Penn College.

Kittle went 5 of 6 at the plate, with six RBI. Zelger, Cline, and Lennon all picked up two hits for the Wildcats.

Max Bair improved to 2-1 after seven innings of work – including five innings with no hits allowed. He finished with no runs, on two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.

Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., hosting King's College.
