WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Penn College women's basketball team dropped a 92-61 decision to Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference contest Wednesday at Bardo Gymnasium. The Wildcats dropped to 1-16, 0-9 NEAC, while the Nittany Lions improved to 9-7, 6-2 NEAC.
Cassi Kuhns and
Gwendolyn Lavelle each posted a team-best 14 points and Kuhns pulled down a Wildcat-best six boards.
Olivia Johnson chipped in 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting and
Maci Ilgen added eight.
Madison Klock dished out a squad-high six assists.
Led by Shayna Rodriguez with a game-high 33, the sharp-shooting Nittany Lions connected on 55.2 percent from the floor and an even 50 percent from three. Lacy MacLachlin added 17 points, while three others posted double-doubles.
The Nittany Lions jumped out to an 11-point lead with 3:59 left in the first before the Wildcats clawed back within four at 1:50. At the 7:26 mark of the second quarter, Abington solidified their double-digit lead on a Rodriguez layup. The Nittany Lions went on to lead 51-34 at the half and never looked back.
Penn College returns to action Saturday at SUNY Poly Tech at 1 p.m.
