WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After a strong start for the Wildcats, the Penn College women's basketball team dropped a 65-52 final to visiting Marywood Sunday afternoon at Bardo Gymnasium. The Wildcats fell to 1-18 on the year, while the Pacers improved to 8-11.
The Wildcats had a balanced attached.
Madison Klock paced Penn College with 11 points and six assists,
Kaylah Brown added 10 points and
Maci Ilgen chipped in nine.
Cassi Kuhns grabbed a team-best eight boards and
Tori Wolfe snagged seven.
Ja'Quela Dyer swatted a trio of blocks and
Ariana Burke and
Kiara Fry each swiped three steals.
For the Pacers, Natasha Hessling put up a game-best double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds. Emily Theobald added 18 points.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair featuring five knotted scores. The Wildcats took a four-point edge, 14-10, at 1:05 of the first and held a 14-12 advantage at the break. Marywood snapped a 19-all deadlock at 5:18 with eight unanswered for a 27-19 gap at half.
Penn College thrice pulled within 10 in the third, but the Pacers continued to power ahead, stretching their advantage to 18 with 42 ticks lingering in the game en route to victory.
The Wildcats return to North Eastern Athletic Conference action at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Lancaster Bible.
