COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Penn College finished 2-2 at the North/South Duals hosted by Ursinus College Saturday and improved to 9-7. The Wildcats knocked off Camden County College, 42-12, and Elizabethtown College, 34-21, and fell to Shippensburg, 27-12, and Muhlenberg, 35-16.
Against Camden,
Deadlocked at 12-12 after 157, Penn College swept the final five bouts. Dan Bergeron and
Colin Browne picked up consecutive falls and
Dylan Otis – following two Camden forfeits at 184 and 197, earned a 4:05 fall at heavyweight.
Against Shippensburg,
Trailing 27-0 after 165, Browne picked at a tough 13-11 overtime decision at 174 to get the Wildcats on the board. Browne trailed 6-0 early in the second before using an escape, a takedown and a stalling point to make it 6-4, before trailing 9-4 at the end of the period. Browne rallied in the third, and evened the match with a takedown with 30 seconds left and won in overtime with a deep single-leg takedown in OT.
Dylan Gettys picked up a 6-3 win at 184, Mooney earned a 7-5 win at 197 and Otis earned a decision at heavyweight.
Against Muhlenberg,
The Mules built a 17-0 lead before
Jesse Walker's pin at 149 put PCT on the board. Gettys earned a major decision at 174 and Otis picked up his third win of the day with a pin at heavyweight.
Against Elizabethtown,
E-town jumped out to an 18-0 lead after 141 before Dickey picked up a 10-2 major decision to make it 18-4. Four straight pins from Walker, Bergeron, Gettys, and Browne put Penn College ahead 28-18, and Otis finished off his perfect day with his third pin of the tournament at 285.
Penn College returns to action Saturday hosting the eight-team Mid-Winter Classic at Liberty Arena.
