MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Penn College matched Morrisville with two first half goals, before neither team could find the back of the net through two overtimes and ended in a 2-2 deadlock. The Wildcats are 2-4-3 NEAC, 2-11-3 overall, while the Mustangs are 1-6-2, 2-11-3.
How it Happened: After Morrisville tallied first,
Chris McFarland evened the score in the 25th minute on a penalty kick. The home team forged ahead again in the 40th minute before
Adam Heintzelman put the ball into the back of the net in the 44th minute on an assist from McFarland to end the scoring.
Inside the Box: Each team finished with 14 shots, although Penn College held a 12-4 margin in shots on goal and led in corner kicks 6-3. Josh Stanley of Warsaw, Virginia, went the distance in goal for the Wildcats.
Outside the Box: The teams also played to a tie a year ago and the series stands at 2-3-2.
"We didn't defend well enough to win," said PCT coach
Tyler Mensch. "We did well to fight back and the tie the game twice."
