WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College hosted a quad meet against Washington & Lee, York College, and University of Scranton Saturday. The Wildcats fell to W&L, 34-3, Scranton, 22-15, and York, 27-18.
How it Happened: Against W&L,
Jared Mooney gave Penn College its only team points with an 8-6 win at 197.
Against, Scranton, each teams traded victories through the opening six matches, with Scranton owning a 12-11 lead after
Dylan Gettys 16-0 tech fall at 165.
Ryan Bauer and
Jesse Walker also picked up wins at 133 and 149. The Royal won consecutive bouts to lead 19-11, before Mooney's major decision made it 19-15.
Against York, the Spartans built a 15-0 lead after 141 pounds before the Wildcats won the ensuing five matches. Walker earned a 4-1 decision,
Trevor Crowley battled to a 4-3 decision at 157, and Gettys,
Daniel Bergeron, and
David Galasso each earned major decisions to give Penn College an 18-15 lead. York ended the match with back-to-back falls to secure the win.
Inside the Box: Mooney, Walker, and Gettys all went 2-1.
