CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Penn College rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit against Cazenovia to tie the game and the end of regulation, but fell short in a 90-81 loss in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Sunday. Penn College fell to 1-22 overall, 0-14 NEAC, which Cazenovia improved to 8-14, 5-9.
Kaylah Brown led PCT with a career-high 26 points,
Ja'Quela Dyer pumped in a career-best 17,
Madison Klock added 14, and
Tori Wolfe added 11 points. Dyer also grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds, while Klock and Wolfe both finished with nine boards each.
Morgan DeLand scored a game-high 34 points for Cazenovia, while three of her teammates also finishing with double figures.
Trailing 53-42 at the end of third, Penn College outscored Cazenovia 26-15 in the fourth to force overtime. PCT erased a 16-point deficit early in the fourth with a 16-2 run to tie the game at 62-62 with two minutes left in the game. Brown and Dyer were responsible for all but one point in the scoring run. Following a Brown jumper and two made free throws, Penn College led 66-63 with 24 seconds left before a three from Amy Holland tied the game with 11 seconds left. Brown made two free throws with under five seconds left to put PCT ahead 68-66 but Holland connected on layup at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.
Cazenovia built a 75-70 lead with 2:37 left in the first overtime but five consecutive points from Wolfe and two by Brown gave PCT a 77-75 advantage with 29 seconds on the clock. Holland connected on two free throws with 11 seconds left to send the game to a second overtime.
Cazenovia opened up the second overtime with seven straight points to take an 85-77 lead with 3:43 left and Penn College could only get within three the remainder of the game.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 6 p.m., at Penn State Berks.
