WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a pair of non-conference softball games to Lycoming College, 7-1 and 9-3, Wednesday. The Warriors improved to 12-6, while the Wildcats fell to 8-8.
In game one,
The Warriors took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning before Penn College cut into the lead, 2-1, on
Chelsea Gray's single in the fifth. Lycoming tacked on three in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Olivia Hemstock,
Elizabeth Asher, and
Taylor Krow all picked up two hits for the Wildcats.
Kyla Benner fell to 2-2 after six innings of work. She allowed five earned runs, on nine hits, with one strikeout and no walks.
In game two,
After five scoreless innings, Lycoming took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning before the Wildcats answered with two in the bottom of the frame.
Taylor Brooks doubled in Krow before Asher's triple plated Brooks.
The Warriors used a two-out error in the top of the seventh to tie the game and forced extra innings with a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh.
The Warriors exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth, while
Kylie Shreiner brought in a run in the bottom of the eighth.
Asher paced PCT with two hits.
Morgan Heritage fell to 3-4 after eight innings. She allowed five earned runs, on 12 hits, with five strikeouts and two walks.
Penn College returns to action Saturday hosting SUNY Poly.
