WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College split a North Eastern Athletic Conference softball doubleheader with SUNY Poly Saturday afternoon. Poly took the first game 2-1 in eight innings before Penn College took the nightcap, 4-2, to improve to 1-3 NEAC, 9-9 overall.
In game one,
Taylor Krow singled in Penn College's only run in the third inning before Poly matched it with a run in the fourth to deadlock the game at 1-1. Penn College stranded three runs in the fourth and two more the rest of the regular to force extra innings.
Poly push a run across in the eighth, while PCT was unable to match it in the bottom of the frame.
Krow led Penn College at the plate with two hits.
Morgan Heritage fell to 3-5 after a complete-game effort. She allowed two runs, scattered six hits, struck out six and walked one.
In game two,
Poly took a 2-0 lead with a run in the third and fourth innings before Penn College brought in three in the fifth.
Kylie Shreiner tied the game with a two-run double to center field before
Gillian Sinnott brought in Shreiner on a single to center. An error in the sixth gave Penn College an additional insurance run.
Shreiner paced Penn College at the plate with two hits.
Kyla Benner improved to 3-2 after seven innings in the circle. She allowed two runs, on six hits, with four strikeouts, and one walk.
Penn College returns to action Sunday, 12 p.m., hosting Morrisville.
