Second Half Rally Dooms Wildcats

MERCERBURG, Pa. – Penn College let a 1-0 first half lead slip away in a 2-1 setback to Wilson College in a non-conference men's soccer match Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 0-2, while the Phoenix improved to 1-1

How it Happened: Josiah Potts put Penn College ahead 1-0 when he netted a pass from Colton Wartman in the 20th minute. The Wildcats held onto the lead the remainder of the first half.
Wilson scored the equalizer in the 57th minute and buried the go-ahead score in the 68th minute.

Inside the Box: Penn College outshot Wilson 11-5 and held a staggering 11-1 advantage in corner kicks, but struggled being accurate with just 7 of 11 shots on frame, compared to the Phoenix 4 of 5 shots on goal.

Brendan Skwirut started the game in goal and saw no shots on frame, while Joshua Stanley played the second half and turned away two shots, and allowed a pair.

Outside the Box: Penn College had four breakaways on offense during the match and could not convert any of those opportunities into point. Two shots were stopped, while the other two were off target.

Potts tallied his first collegiate score, and Wilson evened the all-time record against Penn College at 2-2.

Up Next: The Wildcats return to action Tuesday, 7 p.m., hosting Keystone College at UPMC Field.
