Wildcats Pick Up First Win; Top Gallaudet 4-3

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College netted three first half goals in a 4-3 win over Gallaudet in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 1-5 overall, 1-1 NEAC, while the Bison fell to 0-6-1, 0-2.

How it Happened: After Gallaudet scored off a restart in the seventh minute, Penn College pumped in consecutive goals to lead 2-1. Gabriel McKeon's indirect kick found Kevin McFarland in the 17th minute, before Josiah Potts deposited a deflected ball in the 19th minute.

The Bison evened the game in the 21st minute before McKeon's penalty kick in the 44th minute found the left side of the net to give Penn College a 3-2 lead at halftime.

Greg Conkle scored the eventual game-winner in the 50th minute when he sent a blocked ball to the left corner of the net. GU added a score in the 63rd minute.

Inside the Box:  Penn College outshot GU 19-10 and held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Brendan Skwirut picked up the win in goal for Penn College.

Outside the Box:  McKeon, McFarland, and Conkle all scored their first collegiate goals for Penn College. Potts picked up his team-leading third goal of the season.

"We knew it was going to be a battle and scrappy match," PCT coach Tyler Mensch said. "We did a great job in scoring four goals with three different guys.

"We're still figuring out our identity on defense and we need to sure things up back there. We allowed three shots on goal, all of which scored. That can't happen. We survived and came out with three points.
