READING, Pa. – Penn College tied Penn State Berks, 2-2, in double-overtime in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Wednesday. The Wildcats picked up a point and improved to 1-1-1 NEAC, 1-5-1 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved to 2-4-2, 1-1-1.
How it Happened: Daniel Jackson gave Penn College 1-0 lead in the 33
rd minute when he buried
Josiah Potts' through ball. Berks evened the game at 1-1 in the 59
th minute, while
Colton Wartman headed in
Declan Gatchell's pass off a loose ball in the 81
st minute to give PCT a 2-1 lead. The Lions tied the game two minutes later and eventually sent the game to overtime.
Penn College had an opportunity to win the game late, but
Chris McFarland's shot with 40 seconds left hit the post.
Neither team fired a shot in the first overtime, while the Lions managed two in the second overtime and held Penn College without an attempt on goal.
Inside the Box: Berks outshot Penn College 17-14 and held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Braeden Eckard turned away seven shots in goal for Penn College.
Outside the Box: Wartman scored his third goal of the season and Jackson picked up his second. Eckard started his second game between the pipes for the Wildcats.
"Neither team had any dangerous opportunities to score in overtime," PCT coach
Tyler Mensch said. "Disappointed to not pick up three points, but we'll take a road point."
