WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College tied the game with 1:30 left in regulation, and ended up drawing, 1-1, with St. Joseph's (Long Island) in a non-conference women's soccer match Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 0-1-1, while the Eagles went to 2-0-1.
How it happened: Erica Gallagher took a Dominique Brown pass at the top of the box, in the 88th minute, and curled in the ball to deadlock the match at 1-1. The teams went scoreless in the first half before SJC went ahead 1-0 in the 80th minute.
Inside the box: Penn College out shot SJC, 19-15, while the Eagles held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Taylor Gonzales picked up eight saves – including three in overtime -- in goal for Penn College.
The Wildcats fired four shots in the first overtime – but just one was on frame – while SJC sent four balls towards the net, and Gonzales turned away three of the shots, including one on the goal line. PCT had four more shots in the second overtime, with just one on frame, while its defense allowed zero shots on goal in the second OT.
Outside the box: Gallagher tallied her first goal of the season, while Brown recorded her first assist.
