Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Wildcats Surrender First Half Lead; Fall to Lancaster Bible

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College allowed a 37-20 halftime lead slip away in a 75-69 setback to Lancaster Bible in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 4-12 overall, 1-7 NEAC, while the Chargers improved to 6-11, 4-4.

How it Happened: Penn College gained separation from an 8-7 advantage midway through the first quarter with a 14-3 run to end the period, ahead 22-11. The Wildcats led by as many as 19 on two occasions in the second quarter, the first coming on a Madison Klock jumper with 1:50 left, and the second occurring when Lydia Albert's three made it 37-18 with 1:21 on the clock. Penn College led 37-20 at halftime.

LBC outscored Penn College 30-12 in the third quarter to hold a 50-49 advantage.

The Wildcats regained a 65-60 lead on another Albert long ball to make it 65-60, with 3:39 left in the game, before the Chargers tied the game, 68-68 after an 8-3 spurt with 49 seconds left in the game. LBC hit 7 of 10 from the line in the final 30 seconds to ice the game.

Inside the Box: Albert scored a career-high 24 points for Penn College, including 6 of 8 from behind the arc. Klock and Cassi Kuhns each added 11 points, and Ja'Quela Dyer notched her third-straight double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Lizzy Tilton netted a game-high 26 points for LBC.

Outside the Box: "Deep in to the season with teams getting comfortable within there schemes, we have to get comfortable with ours. Continuously having over twenty turnovers a game, keeps us from having those extra possessions," Penn College coach Britni Mohney said. "We executed our defensive plan well in the first half, and when it was time for adjustments on their run, we lost that extra momentum. We enter the second half of conference play this Saturday, so getting our minds set to bounce back and shift the season on the second round of conference contests has to be our motto to lift our momentum."

Up Next: Penn College returns to action Saturday, 3 p.m., at Penn State Harrisburg.
