SCRANTON, Pa. – Penn College let a 43-25 first half lead slip away in a 74-69 loss to Marywood University in a non-conference women's basketball game Monday. The Wildcats fell to 2-6, while the Pacers improved to 3-7.
How it Happened: Penn College led nearly the entire first quarter, taking its largest lead on a pair of
Keyona Shoff free throws to make it 15-5, before leading 20-12 at the end of the period. The Wildcats kept the lead, mostly in double digits, in the second quarter and took a 43-25 advantage into the locker room.
Marywood used an 18-4 run to open the third to pull within four, 47-43, with 2:46 on the clock before the Wildcats ended the third with a 54-47 lead.
Madison Klock's jumper with 7:46 left in the game gave Penn College a 60-51 lead before Marywood used a 15-6 spurt to even the game at 66-66 with 2:20 left. The Pacers took the lead for good when a layup made it 70-89 with 49 seconds left.
Inside the Box: Klock scored a season-high 26 points for Penn College, on 10 of 16 from the floor.
Maci Ilgen finished with 10 points for the Wildcats.
Aryah Aungst led Marywood with 26 points.
