MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Penn College's softball team is on a three-game winning streak through five games during its Spring Break trip in Myrtle Beach. The Wildcats, which dropped its opening two games, knocked off Norwich, 11-3, Saint Joseph, 9-4, and MacMurray College, 9-1.
Immaculata 7, Penn College 1
How it Happened: Penn College took an 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, before IU scored seven-straight to earn the win.
Inside the Box:
Jaylynn Cochran picked up the Wildcats only RBI, while
Morgan Heritage suffered the loss in the circle after five innings of work.
Franciscan 3, Penn College 1
How it Happened: Franciscan took a 3-0 lead through five innings before Penn College tacked on a run in the seventh.
Inside the Box: Five players picked up hits for the Wildcats, while
Mikayla Aldenderfer was saddled with the loss after a complete-game effort.
Penn College 11, Norwich 3
How it Happened: Penn College scored two runs in each of the first three innings, added one in the fourth, and ended the game early with four in the bottom of the fifth.
Inside the Box:
Maddie Hurst led the Wildcats at the plate with three hits,
Ivvy Morder, Cochran,
Danielle Bonis, and
Shayla Bickel each picked up two hits, and Morder finished with a game-high four RBI. Heritage picked up her first win after five innings, three hits, one earned run, four strikeouts, and four walks.
Penn College 9, St. Joseph 4
How it Happened: Penn College exploded with seven runs in the first inning and added two in the fourth.
Inside the Box: Hurst and Cochran both picked up a pair of hits, while
Kyla Benner and Hurst batted in a pair of runs. Aldenderfer improved to 1-1 after five innings, including three strikeouts, two walks, and two earned runs on seven hits.
Penn College 9, MacMurray 1
How it Happened: After MacMurray took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, the Wildcats added three in the fifth and six in the sixth inning.
Inside the Box:
Olivia Hemstock and Bickel each picked up three hits, while Hurst and Morder finished with a pair. Heritage improved to 2-1 after five innings, three strikeouts, one walk, and one earned run on three hits.
