WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College fell, 54-46, to Lycoming College in a nonconference women's basketball Tuesday. The Wildcats dropped to 0-5, while the Warriors improved to 1-5.
How it happened: Following two deadlocks in the opening seven minutes of the first quarter, Penn College took its first lead, 10-9, on
Bell Hitesman's layup with 2:10 on the clock, and gained its largest lead, 13-9, after a pair of
Allie Troup free throws with 1:15 left in the opener. Lycoming scored four-straight to end the quarter ahead, 13-12.
The Wildcats got as close as one, 14-13, on an
Aubrey Stetts free throw with 6:18 left before the break. The Warriors answered with a 5-0 run en route to a 24-17 halftime lead.
Lycoming led the entire second half as the Penn College got as close as five points on two separate occasions.
Inside the box:
Rachel Teats paced the Wildcats with 11 points and five assists, while
Ja'Quela Dyer grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds.
Kenzie Reed netted a game-high 15 points for the Warriors, while Ashley Yoh (11), Meghan Dufner (11), and Allison Butler (10) also reach double-digits in scoring.
