WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College finished 2-2 at the Rennie Rodarmel Duals hosted by Lycoming College Monday. The Wildcats improved to 2-3 after setbacks to Cortland, 30-6, and Lycoming, 27-17, and victories against King's College, 25-19, and New Jersey City, 29-22.
Against King's,
Ryan Berstler set the tone with a 17-0 technical fall at 125 to put the Wildcats ahead 5-0. Following a King's win at 133, Penn College won four-straight to take a 20-3 advantage.
Colin Jens (141) earned a 6-4 decision,
Noah Hunt (149) won 6-3,
Cullen van Rooyen (157) picked up a 6-2 decision, and
Andy Muzika (165) gave PCT its first bonus points with a fall in 3:33.
After King's made it 20-8 with a fall at 174, Jake Kallenborn sealed the win with a 25-10 technical fall at 184.
Against New Jersey City University,
NJCU took an early 8-0 lead with a decision and a tech in the first two bouts before a pin from Hunt and
Nicholas Semon's tech fall at 149 put the Wildcats ahead 11-8. Jersey picked up consecutive major decisions at 157 and 165, to make it 16-11, before Penn College won the next three of four matches to secure the victory.
Garrett Storch decked his opponent in 6:05 at 184, Kallenborn picked up a fall in 6:05 at 184, and
Gabriel Kennedy-Citeroni received a forfeit at heavyweight.
Against Lycoming,
Berstler opened the match with a 6-3 decision to give PCT a 3-0 lead before Lycoming responded with four-straight victories to take a 16-3 advantage after 157. Penn College countered with a trio of wins to take a 17-16 lead following a 6-3 decision from Muzika, Storch's pin, and Kallenborn's 18-0 technical fall.
Lycoming ended the meet with a pair of bonus-point wins at 197 and 285.
Against Cortland,
Cortland won the opening five matches to take a 17-0 lead before
Michael Molloy battled for a 7-6 decision at 165 and Kallenborn earned an 11-7 decision at 184.
