WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball games to Penn State Harrisburg Saturday at Bowman Field. The Wildcats fell to 0-2 overall, 0-2 NEAC after dropping a 14-7 decision in the game one and a 12-2 setback in the nightcap. The Nittany Lions improved to 5-1, 2-0.
In game one,
How it Happened: Harrisburg jumped out to an 8-1 lead through the top of the third inning before
Shane Price smacked a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third to make it 8-5. The Nittany Lions built their lead to 14-5 through the sixth inning and Penn College added two in the bottom of the seventh on a passed ball and a hit by pitch.
Inside the Box:
Brittan Kittle led Penn College at the plate, picking up two of the Wildcats' nine hits, while Price knocked in four on his grand slam.
Ben Bretzman took the loss after 2.1 innings on the hill. He allowed four earned, on four hits, with five strikeouts and five walks. Dylan Harshbarg improved to 2-0 for Harrisburg after four innings of work.
In game two,
How it Happened: Penn College tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first when
Jake Wagner scored on a passed ball before Harrisburg scored two in the second and nine in the sixth to take a 12-1 lead. The Wildcats scored their final run in the eighth when
Dom Harding drew a based loaded walk.
Inside the Box: Penn College managed six hits by six different players, while Wagner reached base three times with a hit and two walks.
Cole Culver fell to 0-1 after 2.2 innings on the bump. Zach Gettys improved to 1-0 for the Lions after six innings of work.
