Wildcats Split with Berks, Kittle Homers

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College split a double-header with Penn State Berks in a North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball twinbill Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 3-3 , while the Nittany Lions went to 1-7.

In game one,
How it Happened: Brittan Kittle started the offensive attack in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to left center field with the Wildcats taking the early lead 1-0 and never looked back.  Penn College added three runs in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead.  Jacob Carles brought in Christian Perna in the sixth inning to go up 5-0.  Penn State Berks would add a run in the seventh inning as the Wildcats would go on to win 5-1.  

Inside the Box: Ben Bretzman got the win on the mound for the Wildcats going 6.1 innings with nine strikeouts and only one earned run.  Jacob Carles went 2-4 at the plate with two RBI's and Jason Cute picked up his first save of the season on the mound.  
 
In game two,
How it Happened: Penn State Berks came out swinging by recording 13 hits in the second game of the doubleheader. The Nittany Lions took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.  With runners in scoring positions in the fifth inning, the Penn State Berks brought in four more runs to take a 5-0 advantage.  The Wildcats would respond as Jake Wagner hit a shot to left field to score Keegan Nytz.  Then Brian Robison hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring in Christian Perna to make the score 5-2.  Penn College would add a final run in the seventh inning, but could not get over the hump in the final two innings of the game, as the Wildcats would fall 5-3.  

Inside the Box: Nytz led the offense going 2-4 from the plate with two runs and Wagner went 1-2 with one RBI.  The Wildcats pitching staff gave up 13 hits and five earned runs including seven strikeouts.
