Penn College Drops Two at Home

WILLIAMSPORT, PA. – Penn College dropped a pair of games to Penn State Abington on Thursday afternoon.  The Wildcats lost game one 19-3 and game two 5-1.  The Wildcats fall to 6-8 overall/NEAC while the Nittany Lions improve to 10-1 overall and 6-0 NEAC.

In game one
How it Happened: Penn State Abington came out of the gates fast scoring nine runs in the first two innings.  Penn College scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI groundout by Shane Price to make it a 10-1 game.  Jacob Carles laced an RBI triple to right center to give the Wildcats their second run of the game in the bottom of the 6th.  Two batters later Price knocked in his second RBI of the game with a single to the hole at short.

Inside the Box: Carles finished the game 2 for 3 with an RBI triple and two runs scored.  Brittan Kittle was 2 for 2 with a double and single.  Price finished 1 for 3 with two RBIs.  Justin Porter (1-2) took the loss allowing nine hits, nine runs (five earned) in 1.2 innings of work.

In game two
How it Happened: Penn State Abington scored a run in the top of the first and added another run in the top of the 5th to take an early 2-0 lead.  Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the 6th Penn College chipped away at the lead by scoring a run on a Carles sac fly to right that scored Brian Robison.  The Wildcats missed an opportunity to tie the game in the bottom of the 7th when they stranded runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out.  The Nittany Lions extended their lead to 5-1 in the top of the 9th and the Wildcats went down in order in their final at-bats of the game.

Inside the Box: Christian Perna and Jacob Carles had two hits a piece at the plate.

Cole Culver fell to 0-2 on the year after allowing three runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings.  Culver scattered just four hits while striking out five.
