Penn College Splits with Bible; Kittle and Smith Homer

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College split a North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader against Lancaster Bible College Saturday. The Wildcats are 7-9 after a 1-0 setback in the first game and a 4-3 victory in the nightcap.

In game one
How it Happened: The Chargers cashed in on an error in the third to take a 1-0 lead and held Penn College to just one hit.

Inside the Box: Kolten Smith picked up Penn College's lone hit.

Ben Bretzman fell to 2-2 after six innings. He allowed one unearned run on three hits, with two strikeouts, and three walks.

In game two
How It Happened: Brittan Kittle gave Penn College a 2-0 lead in the first inning when he belted a two-run shot to left field, which also plated Jake Wagner. A passed ball in the second scored Conner Burke to give PCT a 3-0 lead. Smith made it 4-0 in the sixth after he slugged a solo homer to left.

Bible made a late rally in the ninth with three runs but the Wildcats held on to secure the win.

Inside the Box: Kittle and Smith both finished with a home run and a double for Penn College to lead the offense.

Chance Webb improved to 1-2 after firing 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs, scattered four hits, struck out five and walked three. Hunter Jordan earned his first save with 1.2 innings of work, allowing three earned on three hits, with one strike out and one walk.

Outside the Box: Penn College recognized seniors: Kittle, Jordan, Christian Perna, Joey Fatzinger, Bryden Lippert, Max Conrad, and Ethan Ketterman prior to the game.

Up Next: The Wildcats return to action Monday, 1 p.m., at Penn State Abington. The game was originally scheduled for Sunday but was moved due to forecasted inclement weather.
