WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 10-2 decision to Morrisville in the inaugural men's lacrosse contest Saturday at UPMC Field. The Mustangs, the defending North Eastern Athletic Conference champions, improved to 1-0, while the Wildcats fell to 0-1.
How it Happened: Morrisville jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the second quarter before Danny Jackson scored the first goal in program history with 7:33 left before half. Jackson created space with a split-dodge 10 yards out, before a 360 spin gave him an open lane to find the back of the net.
The Mustangs added a score late in the second to lead 5-1 at the break, before Penn College netted its final shot on a man-up tally by
Charlie Suchanec, who deposited a pass from
Garrett Corso 30 seconds into the second half.
Morrisville finished off the game with five unanswered scores.
Inside the Box: The Mustangs outshot Penn College 48-34, while the Wildcats held an 8-7 edge in faceoffs.
Dylan Laplace turned away 12 shots for the Mustangs, while
Andrew Gobbi picked up 17 saves for Penn College.
