WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Four Penn College wrestlers earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Scholar All-American honors, it was announced Monday. Senior
Dylan Gettys (Etters, Pa.), junior
Jesse Walker (Ridgefield, Conn.), and freshmen
Noah Hunt (Muncy, Pa.) and
Garrett Storch (Canton, Pa.) were awarded.
In a normal season a student-athlete must have either a cumulative 3.2 GPA or higher, or a 3.2 GPA or higher over the last two semesters. Athletically, nominated student-athletes must: be a national qualifier with a minimum .500 overall win/loss record; OR placed top 8 at regionals with a min. .500 overall record and participate in at least 50% of teams competitions; OR must have an overall win/loss record of .665 and have competed in at least 50% of teams competitions
This year, since most teams didn't compete, coaches were asked to vet their teams wisely and anticipate guys they felt would have met the athletic achievements.
Gettys, an HVAC Design major, earned his program-record third All-American award. He finished sixth at regionals in 2019 and eighth in 2020, with a 20-11 record at 165. His career record at Penn College is 48-21.
Walker, a Web and Interactive Design major, picked up his first All-American honor. He finished 17-14 at 149 in 2020.
Hunt, an Accounting major, was a four-time state qualifier in high school, while Storch, a Forest Technology major, was a 2020 state qualifier in high school.
