AURORA, N.Y. – Penn College wrapped up the regular season with a sweep of Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Thursday. The Wildcats improved to 15-3 following a 12-0 win in the first game and a 19-1 victory in the nightcap.
In game one,
How it Happened: Penn College managed 10 runs in the first inning and tacked on a pair in second inning.
Olivia Hemstock brought in three runs in the first,
Lesley Fritz and
Maddie Hurst knocked in two, and
Ivvy Morder,
Shayla Bickel, and
Jordan Specht each plated a runner. Hurst and Hemstock both batted in a run in the second inning.
Inside the Box: Hemstock finished with three hits and four RBI, and Morder and
Madison Shaffer picked up a pair of hits.
Kyla Benner improved to 8-1 after a complete-game shutout one-hitter. She struck out six and walked one.
In game two,
How it Happened: The Wildcats scored three runs in the first, 10 in the second, five in the third, and one in the fourth.
Inside the Box: Fritz and Hemstock both finished with three hits and batted in five and four runs, respectively. Hurst, Jaylin Cochran, Bickel and Shaffer all finished with a pair of hits, while Hurst added a triple, Fritz and Bickel both recorded a pair of doubles, and
Sarah Woodruff and Cochran reached second once.
Kassidy Svenson improved to 6-2 after five innings in the circle. She allowed one run, on three hits, with three strike outs and no walk.
