WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College split in nonconference tennis action against crosstown rival Lycoming College on Thursday with the men winning, 5-4, and the women falling, 8-1.
How it happened: The Penn College men won three singles and two doubles matches to go to 1-1 on the season while Lycoming won all six singles and two of three doubles matches in dropping Penn College to 0-2.
Inside the box: Winning in singles for the Penn College men were Tucker Phillippe-Johansson at No. 1, 6-3, 6-4; Alexander Norris at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3; and Paul Langbein at No. 3, 6-2, 6-7, 10-7 tiebreaker. Doubles winners for the Wildcat men were Phillippe-Johnansson/Langbein at No. 1, 8-3, and Tommy Cavanaugh-Zack Burkhart at No. 3, by forfeit.
The lone Penn College women's win came at No. 2 doubles with Georgia Macensky-Amber Leitzel posting an 8-7 victory.
