Wildcats Pick Up First Win on Ruhl’s OT Goal

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Kyle Ruhl's shot in the 100th minute lifted Penn College to its first win this season in a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Alfred State in a non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 1-1-1, while the Pioneers fell to 1-2.

How it Happened: Ruhl beat a defender at the top left of the box and ripped a shot to the bottom right of the cage to break the 0-0 deadlock.

Ruhl's shot was the only attempt by either team in the second overtime, while Colton Wartman's shot in the 93rd minute was lone one on frame in the first overtime. The Wildcats had three shot on target in the second half but attempts from Wartman, Chris McFarland and Matt Neeson were all turned away.

Inside the Box: Penn College outshot Alfred State, 13-4, and held a 17-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Braeden Eckard picked up his first win this season with a two-save shutout, while Thad Grierson took the loss with eight stops.

Up Next: The Wildcats return to action Saturday, 2 p.m., at Shenandoah.
