WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Four goals by Kaelynn Sheetz and three by Olivia Casella lifted the Penn College women's soccer team to an 11-0 home United East win over Penn State Abington on Saturday and in doing so clinched a postseason berth. The Wildcats improved to 5-2 in the UE and 7-8-1 overall. PS Abington is 2-5 UE and 4-11-1 overall.
How it happened: Penn College scored four first-half goals and added seven in the second half as it outshot Abington, 32-8 (22-5 on goal), during its Wildcat Weekend win.
Inside the box: Sheetz opened the scoring at the 22:34 mark on an assist from Casella and Sheetz added her second goal three minutes later on a shot from 25 yards out on an assist from Sara Darlington. Casella got into the scoring act, unassisted, at 46:12 before Sheetz drilled another at 55:43, again assisted by Darlington, and the rout was on. Nicole Lichtinger was perfect in goal for the Wildcats, making five saves. Sheetz's four-goal game gives her 16 for the season, a modern (since 2014) Penn College single-season record.
