READING, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 5-3 decision to Penn State Berks in a United East women's soccer match Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 3-2 UE, 5-8-1 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved to 4-0-1, 8-3-1.
How it happened: Berks took an early 1-0 lead with a score in the 12
th minute and led 1-0 at halftime.
Cassie Johnson finished a
Brooke Klinger pass in the 48
th minute to tie the game at 1-1. The Lions answered with a goal in the 52
nd minute before
Sara Darlington scored back-to-back goals to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead. Darlington's first goal found the inside right post and her second was an unassisted tally in the 54
th minute.
Berks ended the game with three unanswered goals.
Inside the box: Berks outshot Penn College, 24-9 (17-5 on goal), while Penn College held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Nicole Lichtinger stopped 12 shots in goal for the Wildcats.
