WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College improved to 3-0 following an 89-75 win over Clarks Summit in the final game of the Crosstown Challenge Saturday. The Defenders fell to 0-3.
How it happened: Following four deadlocks in the opening 10 minutes, the Wildcats separated from a 28-28 tie with an 8-2 run, and a 36-30 lead, on a pair of Obens Luxama free throws with 8:04 left in the first. Clarks Summit pulled within one, 38-37, with 4:29 before the break but the Wildcats ended the period with a 13-0 run to lead 51-37 at halftime.
The Defenders opened the second half with a 15-3 spurt to get within two, 54-52, with 14:46 on the clock, and later got as close as one, 60-59, with 12:44 left in the game. The Wildcats used a 10-3 run to gain separation and their lead never dipped below five the remainder of the game.
Inside the box: Gavin Barrett, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored a game-high 31 points for Penn College, Alec Cooper finished with 15, and Will Sulesky added 10. Max Jackowsky grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
