WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College men's basketball team saw a six-point halftime lead quickly evaporate in the second half Wednesday when the Wildcats were outscored 58-28 by crosstown rival Lycoming College in a 93-69 nonconference defeat. Penn College now is 3-2, while Lycoming is 3-0.
How it happened: Lycoming led 5-0 early before the Wildcats used a 13-5 run, fueled by treys from Gavin Barrett, Obens Luxama and Max Jackowsky, to go ahead 21-18 with 9:36 left in the first half. After ties at 21-, 23- and 25-all, the lead went back-and-forth until the Wildcats went on an 8-0 spurt to close out the half on top, 41-35.
The Warriors opened the second half with a 9-0 burst to reclaim their lead, and after a tie at 45-all, doubled up on Penn College the rest of the way, 48-24, for their 24-point victory.
Inside the box: Barrett led the Wildcats with 31 points, matching his career high, while Alec Cooper added 14 points. Mo Terry topped four Lycoming players in double figures with 24 points. Lycoming led in rebounds, 49-29, and connected on 15 of 37 3-point shots, while limiting the Wildcats to 5 of 20 from long distance.
