WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College overcame an eight-point second half deficit to secure a 66-60 win over Wilson College in a nonconference men's basketball game Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 4-2, while the Phoenix fell to 2-3.
How it happened: Trailing 55-47, with 6:40 left in the game, Penn College rallied with a 12-4 run to tie game at 59 on a Rees Watkins layup with 3:19 remaining in the game. Another layup from Watkins, and an Alex Cooper trey, with 1:24 on clock gave PCT a 64-60 lead before Gavin Barrett iced the game with a pair of free throws with 13 seconds on the clock.
The Wildcats led for most of the first half and took their largest lead, 23-16, on Will Sulesky's layup with 9:23 before halftime. Wilson answered with 12-0 run to take a 28-23 advantage with 4:42 before the break. Nouhamadou Diallo's three got Penn College within two, 28-26, with 4:17 left and neither team scored the remainder of the half.
Inside the box: Watkins led Penn College with 15 points, Cooper netted 13, Barrett finished with 12, and Max Jackowsky added 10. Sulesky grabbed a team-high six rebounds and Barrett finished with a game-high six assists.
