WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College's women's basketball team lost in nonconference action at crosstown rival Lycoming College on Tuesday, 58-42. Penn College now is 1-3 and Lycoming is 3-3.
How it Happened: Lycoming opened an early 8-0 lead before Ja'Quela Dyer put the Wildcats on the scoreboard with a trey at the seven-minute mark and another 3-pointer, by Shelby Pyatt, got Penn College back to within six points at 12-6 before the Warriors closed out the first quarter ahead, 22-10. Twice during the second frame, Lyco opened leads of 18 points and led 40-22 at halftime.
Lycoming's defense forced eight third-quarter turnovers and the Warriors carried a 24-point lead into the final frame. In a low-scoring fourth, Penn College outscored Lycoming, 12-4, including the last six points on jump shots by Lexi Troup and Aubrey Stetts and a fast-break layup by Jade Cordrey that closed the gap to 16 at the finish.
Inside the Box: Troup came off the bench to lead Penn College with 10 points, while Rachel Teats scored nine. Emily Lockard topped Lycoming with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Lyco led in rebounds, 51-33, and in points in the paint, 32-18.
