ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn College dropped a 67-49 decision at Penn State Altoona in nonconference women's basketball action on Wednesday. Penn College now is 1-4 and PS Altoona is 2-4.
How it happened: Penn State Altoona bolted to an 8-1 lead and twice led by 10 points in the opening quarter, but Penn College responded with an 8-2 burst after two jump shots by Ja'Quela Dyer and layups by Rachel Teats and Aubrey Stetts to open the second period, trimming the difference to two at 22-20. PS Altoona then went on a 12-3 run to close out the half on top, 34-23.
After trailing by 16 points early in the third, the Wildcats cut their deficit to nine at 41-32 on a Teats foul shot before PS Altoona stretched its lead to 17, 51-34, at the turn for home. In the fourth, the home team held leads between 12 and 20 points the rest of the way.
Inside the box: Teats finished with 16 points for Penn College, while Stetts added 11 points. Teats and Allie Troup each had seven rebounds to lead the Wildcats. Avana Sayles ended with 16 points and 10 rebounds for PS Altoona.
