WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College fell to Houghton, 66-43, in a nonconference women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 1-7, while the Highlanders improved to 8-1.
How it happened: Penn College built an early 6-2 lead, with threes from
Lexi Troup and
Rachel Teats, to begin the game. Houghton ended the quarter with a 10-2 run to take a 16-8 advantage at the end of the first. The Highlanders outscored the Wildcats, 14-4, in the second to lead 30-12 at halftime.
The Wildcats outpaced Houghton, 20-17, in the third, while the Highlanders outscored Penn College, 19-11, in the fourth.
Inside the box:
Ja'Quela Dyer,
Kayleigh Miller, and Teats all scored eight points for Penn College. Dyer finished with a team-high eight boards.
Crysta Lacrosse led all scorers with 23 for Houghton.
