WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Penn College split a pair of nonconference wrestling matches at a tri-meet hosted by King's College Monday. The Wildcats fell to the Monarchs, 35-10, before edging Pitt-Bradford, 24-20, and improved to 2-2.
Against King's,
Patrick Snoke and
Noah Hunt provided consecutive wins at 133 and 141 to give the Wildcats a 7-3 lead. Snoke earned a 6-4 overtime win and Hunt picked up a 10-2 major decision. A win at 149 pulled King's within one, 7-6, before
Nicholas Semon's 5-0 win at 157 put PCT ahead, 10-6. King's swept the rest of the match – including two forfeits.
Against Pitt-Bradford,
Penn College opened the match with three straight wins and jumped out to 15-0 lead.
Ryan Berstler picked up a 6-1 win at 125, the Wildcats received a forfeit at 133, and Hunt decked his opponent in 3:43. The Panthers made it 15-3, with a decision at 149 before Semon earned a pin and
Cullen van Rooyen picked up a 7-0 shutout at 165. Bradford made a late rally with victories in the final four bouts.
