WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College surrendered a 25-17 first half lead in a 55-47 loss to Penn State Altoona in a nonconference women's basketball game Friday. The Wildcats fell to 1-6, while the Nittany Lions improved to 3-6.
How it happened: Penn College ended the first quarter with a 7-0 run to take a 17-8 lead after the first.
Emily Pardee led Penn College with six in the opening period. The Wildcats led the entire second period, leading by as many as eight on two different occasions.
Lexi Troup's layup, with 3:38 on clock, made it 23-15 and
Rachel Teats' bucket with three second remaining gave PCT a 25-17 lead at the break.
Altoona opened the second half with a 9-0 run to take a 26-25 lead, before the game was deadlocked three times, the final coming at 3:22 knotted at 33. The Lions edged Penn College 4-3 in the final three minutes to take a 37-36 into the fourth. The Lions built a 46-37 advantage with 7:20 left in the game, while the Wildcats got as close as four, 51-47, on a Teats trey with 57 second left. Altoona iced the game by going 4 of 4 from the line in the final minute.
Inside the box: Miller finished with 13 points, on 4 of 8 from behind the arc, and
Rachel Teats added 10.
Avana Sayles scored a game-high 20 points for Altoona.
