READING, Pa. – Penn College surrendered three consecutive goals – including the game-winner – in an 11-10 loss to Albright in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 1-3, while the Lions improved to 2-2.
How it happened: Penn College erased an 8-7 third quarter deficit with goals from
James Thatcher,
Sam Hills, and
Josh O'Leary to take a 10-8 lead with 14:53 left in the game. Albright netted consecutive shots at 5:34 and 4:45 to tie the game before depositing the game-winner on a man-up goal with 2:30 left in the extra period.
Danny Harkins gave Penn College an early 1-0 lead before Albright went back-to-back to take a 2-1 advantage with 3:07 left in the first. The Wildcats regained the lead after goals from
Quinn Caviola and
Dylan Klemas to end the first. Thatcher's second tally early in the second put Penn College ahead 4-2 before the Lions evened the game with consecutive scores with 4:58 left before halftime. Hills and Caviola found the back of net in a two-minute span to give PCT a 6-4 advantage while the Lions added a late goal to make it 6-5 at halftime.
Albright opened up the third with two scores to take a 7-6 lead before Caviola tied the game with a goal with 11:49 left in the third. The Lions answered with another goal with 9:51 on the clock, setting up the dramatic conclusion of the game.
Inside the box: Thatcher finished with two goals and two assists and Caviola led Penn College three goals.
James Cella turned away 14 shots in goal for Penn College.
