MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Penn College fell to Montclair State, 8-3, in a nonconference softball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 3-2, while the Hawks improved to 4-2.
Montclair took an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning before
Jordan Specht put Penn College on the board with a RBI single in the bottom of the frame. The Hawks added three runs in the second before Penn College added two runs on a
Skyelar Splain double and a
Maddie Hurst single in the bottom of the seventh.
Hurst finished 4 for 4 at the plate for the Wildcats and Specht finished with two hits.
Kyla Benner fell to 2-1 after two-thirds inning of work. She surrendered four runs (none earned), on two hits, with a strikeout and a walk.
Taylor Cashner finished the remainder of the game in the circle.
Penn College's scheduled game against Penn State Beaver Wednesday was cancelled due to lightning.
