WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College erased a 9-5 third quarter deficit with eight-straight scores en route to a 13-10 win over Alvernia in a nonconference men's lacrosse game Wednesday. The Wildcats improved to 3-4, while the Golden Wolves fell to 0-5.
How it happened: After Alvernia built a 9-5 advantage with 3:11 left in the third quarter, Penn College used the ensuring six minutes to net four shots – with two from
Brendan Kuczma and one each by
Quinn Caviola and
Sam Hills – to tie the game at 9-9 with 13:41 left in the game. The Wildcats padded their lead with four more scores, with two from
Trevor Soli and one by Kuczma and Caviola, to gain a comfortable 13-9 lead with 1:01 left in the game.
The Wolves jumped out to a 3-1 lead but the Wildcats rallied to deadlock the game at 3-3 after goals from Caviola and Hills with 8:39 left in the first quarter. Alvernia answered with consecutive goals and eventually led 7-5 at halftime.
Inside the box: Caviola finished with a game-high four goals, while Kuczma (3), Hills (2), and Soli (2) all finished with multiple scores. Kuczma finished with a team-high two assists and
Dylan Klemas sparked the comeback by winning 11 of 15 faceoffs.
James Cella improved to 3-4 between the pipes with four saves.
