SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Penn College dropped a nonconference softball doubleheader to Susquehanna University Tuesday. The Wildcats fell to 4-5 overall after a 6-2 loss in the first game and an 8-0 setback in the nightcap.
How it happened: In game one, the River Hawks took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning before Penn College closed the gap with an RBI single by
Maddie Hurst in the third and a wild pitch that plated
Margaret Mangene in the fourth. SU added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
In game two, the Hawks limited Penn College to just one hit and scored a run in the second, three in third and two in both the fourth and sixth innings.

Maddie Hurst picked up two hits in the doubleheader to pace Penn College's offense.
Kyla Benner fell to 3-2 after five innings in game one. She allowed four earned runs, on six hits, with two strikeouts and two walks.
Mackenzie Weaver dropped to 1-2 after 5.2 innings of work in game two. She surrendered five earned runs, on 10 hits, with one strikeout and two walks.
Up next: Penn College opens conference play Friday at Lancaster Bible College and Saturday at Gallaudet.
