Wildcats Open United East Conference Play With Road Sweep

LANCASTER, PA: Penn College snapped their two-game losing streak by taking a pair of games verse Lancaster Bible to open up United East Conference play.  The Wildcats won game one 2-1 and the nightcap 10-4 to improve to 6-5 overall (2-0 UEC).  The Chargers fall to 0-10 overall and (0-2 UEC).

In game one:
Mackenzie Weaver pitched a three-hit gem for the Wildcats allowing just one run, while striking out nine in the complete game effort.  Maddie Hurst finished a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate with two doubles and both runs scored.  Jordan Specht added two hits including a triple in the top of the fifth that scored Hurst.

In game two:
Tied at 1-1 in the top of the third inning, Penn College exploded for five runs to take the lead at 6-1.  With two outs in the inning and leading 3-1 Skyelar Splain hit a bases clearing double to right field for the Wildcats pushing the lead to 6-1.  In the top of the sixth, Splain knocked in her fourth RBI of the game on a single to left.  Hailey Debrody launched a two-run home run to left.  Expanding the Wildcats lead to 9-1.  The final Wildcats final run of the inning was scored on an Olivia Hemstock groundout to first.  

Kyla Benner (4-2) picked up the complete game win allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits.  Benner struck out seven Chargers batters.  Benner helped her own cause at the plate with two hits and two runs scored.  Hurst and Splain added a pair of hits in the game.

Up Next: Penn College returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they continue their road trip at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
