ST. MARY'S CITY, MD: After losing game one 6-5 in 8 innings, Penn College won game two 10-6 in 11 innings. With the split Penn College stands at 17-14 overall and 11-7 in the UEC. St. Mary's College of Maryland sees their record go to 12-12 overall and 8-9 in UEC play.
In Game One: Penn College opened up an early 4-0 after the top of the third inning.
Cameron Dick and
Shane Price had RBI singles in the third inning. St. Mary's trimmed the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the third inning and would go on to tie the game at 4-4 after four innings of play. The Wildcats regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning when
Tristan Current hit a single through the left side that scored
Nathan Gustkey. As quickly as the Wildcats retook the lead, the Seahawks tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth on an infield single to short. The Seahawks walked it off in the bottom of the eighth inning on a passed ball.
In Game Two: Neither team scored during the first five innings of play. Penn College got the scoring going in the top of the sixth inning when they plated four runs.
Cameron Dick had a two-RBI single to left,
Jacob Carles had a RBI walk and
Nathan Gustkey knocked in a run on a single to right field. Penn College padded their lead in the top of the seventh inning when they scored two runs on an error and sacrifice fly. Leading 6-2 with two innings to play the Wildcats were not able to hold onto the lead as the Seahawks scored three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to force extra innings. In the top of the eleventh inning
Brian Robison had the game winning hit on a single up the middle. Penn College tacked on three more runs in the inning en route to the 10-6 win.
In the Box: Jake Wagner finished the day with three hits and four runs scored. Dick led the Wildcats with three RBI's.
Gabe Reptsik notched his second win of the season in two-innings of relief in game two.
Penn College returns to the diamond on Monday afternoon when they host Penn State Altoona in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
