WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College punched its ticket to the United East playoffs with a doubleheader sweep over Penn State-Berks Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 13-8 United East, 20-16 overall after a 9-0 win in game one and a 13-2 victory in the nightcap.
Penn College will compete in its fifth-straight conference tournament next weekend hosted by Penn State-Harrisburg. Game times and opponents are still to be determined.
How it happened: Penn College plated two runs in the second and third innings and exploded for five in the fourth in game one.
The Wildcats built a 6-0 lead through the fourth inning and tacked on five in the sixth and one in each of the seventh and eighth innings in game two.

Jake Wagner,
Jacob Carles, and
Tyler Rudolph each picked up three hits in game one for the Wildcats. All three recorded a double, while Rudolph smacked a two-run homer in the fourth. Conner Burke and
Shane Price both added two hits each, while Price and
Nathan Gustkey both drove in two runs.
Ben Bretzman improved to 3-4 after a complete-game on the bump. He scattered two hits, surrendered no runs, struck out six, and walked two.
Carles went 4 for 4, with three RBI in the second game for Penn College and
Cameron Dick added three doubles with two RBI. Wagner and Burke both finished with two hits, while
Shane Price launched a three-run home run to left in the third.
Chance Webb improved to 4-2 after five innings of work. He scattered two hits, allowed no runs, struck out four and walked three.
