ALFRED, N.Y. – Alfred State knocked off Penn College 2-0 in a nonconference men's soccer match Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 0-3, while the Pioneers improved to 2-1.
How it happened: Alfred State got on the board early in the game with a tally in the 21
st minute and added late goal on a penalty kick in the 88
th minute.
Penn College missed an opportunity in the first half when
Cooper Smith's attempt in the 17
th minute was saved.
Tommy DeGeyter put three on frame for the Wildcats in the second half but all three were turned away.
Inside the box: Alfred State outshot Penn College 11-9, but both teams put five shots on frame. The Pioneers held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Braeden Eckard started in goal for the Wildcats and picked up three saves.
Justin Potts played the second half between the pipes.
