WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College surrendered a 12-point halftime lead en route to a 79-78 setback against Morrisville in a United East men's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 1-3 UE, 6-7 overall, while the Mustangs improved to 3-2, 7-6.
How it happened: Penn College used an 8-0 run midway through the first half to take a 29-21 lead on a
Michael Woolridge layup with 5:39 left before the break.
Will Sulesky's jumper with 1:05 on the clock gave the Wildcats their largest lead, 38-25, before taking a 38-26 advantage into the locker room.
The Wildcats kept a comfortable lead for the opening seven minutes of the second half while
Alec Cooper's trey with 12:40 put PCT ahead 51-41. Morrisville responded with a 10-0 run to tie the game at 51-51 with 8:52 on the clock. Following two more deadlocks in the ensuing six minutes, the Mustangs took a 75-69 lead with 36 seconds left.
Livingston Cross' three with 33 seconds left pulled Penn College within three, 75-72, but Morrisville sank three of four from the line in the closing seconds.
Inside the box: Cross scored a game-high 22 points for Penn College,
Max Jackowsky netted 15, Woolridge finished with 12, and
Gavin Barrett added 11. Jackowsky grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and Barrett finished with a game-high 10 assists.
Charles Brown led Morrisville with 20 points.
