WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College dropped a 64-49 home United East women's basketball game to conference-unbeaten SUNY Morrisville on Saturday. Penn College now is 1-3 in the UE and 2-11 overall. Morrisville is 5-0 in the conference and 9-5 overall.
How it happened: In a tightly played first quarter, Penn College opened the scoring on a layup by
Aubrey Stetts and held one-point leads twice after that, the last time at 7-6 on a Stetts jump shot with 2:20 left in the frame. Morrisville then went on a 30-8 run to open a 36-15 halftime lead.
Morrisville increased its lead to 29 points (46-17) in the third quarter and was ahead by 26 (64-38) in the fourth before the Wildcats scored the game's last 11 points, with
Maddie Adams scoring six and
Kayleigh Miller adding three, to narrow the gap at the end.
Inside the box: Miller led Penn College with 18 points and Adams scored 10.
Lexi Troup had six rebounds and
Rachel Teats had five assists to lead the Wildcats in other categories.
Brooke Hammersley tallied a game-high 24 points for SUNY Morrisville, which outscored Penn College 44-14 in the paint.
